CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The U.S. Department of Agriculture has earmarked $30 million for conservation projects involving South Carolina.
One of the projects is to protect about 20,000 acres of longleaf forest surrounding 10 military installations in South Carolina as well as three other states.
The second project is a program to improve energy efficiency in greenhouses as well as barns and other places where animals are housed.
That effort is being led by Clemson University in partnership with the state Department of Natural Resources.
