MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama Department of Mental Health officials say many North Alabama Regional Hospital employees will be able to apply for jobs at other state facilities after theirs closes in June.
Department Commissioner Jim Reddoch told the Decatur Daily Wednesday (https://bit.ly/17McuDz ) that enough positions should be available at the state’s three other facilities in Tuscaloosa for employees of the shuttered facility to transfer to.
The newspaper reports the facility employs about 150 people and has about 50 patients. Reddoch says about 40 North Alabama Regional Hospital employees are eligible to retire.
He says the state will also work to find private sector jobs for laid-off employees if they don’t want to move from Decatur to Tuscaloosa.
It’s unclear what will happen to the building the hospital occupies after it’s closed.
