SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Relatives of a man killed in a hit-and-run crash while on his way to Florida are now offering a $100,000 reward for information about who struck him.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police say 72-year-old Peter Meyer was found on the ground in front of a motel Jan. 4 on Abercorn Street, a main thoroughfare through Savannah. Police say he was walking across Abercorn when he was struck.
The Savannah Morning News reports (https://bit.ly/1C3HcDl) that 28 friends of Meyer have contributed $90,000 in addition to the $10,000 his family pledged through CrimeStoppers.
Meyers lived in Quechee, Vermont, and Orchid Island, Florida. He was headed to Florida for the winter when he stopped in Savannah for the night.
Investigators are looking for a 1999 or 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, Tahoe or Suburban with front-end damage.
