PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A man is on life support after police say he was shot in the head while sitting in the driver’s seat of a parked car in West Philadelphia.

Witnesses tell police the suspect scuffled with the victim from the backseat of the 2000 Buick LeSabre before opening fire around 1 a.m. Friday.

The 42-year-old victim was wounded once in the back of the head and four times in the arm.

Police say he’s in extremely critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

A woman in the front passenger seat was not hurt. She alerted an officer on patrol nearby.

The suspect remains at large.

The shooting happened on Ludlow Street, a few blocks from the 52nd Street SEPTA station and West Philadelphia High School.
