LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) - A Virginia mortgage company is moving its headquarters to South Carolina.

Multiple media outlets reported that Movement Mortgage said Thursday it will move its headquarters from Virginia Beach to Lancaster County.

The company says the $22 million move will create 650 jobs.

Former Carolina Panthers tight end Casey Crawford and Toby Harris founded the business in 2008.

The company has 350 employees at its Virginia Beach headquarters now. Crawford says some of those with move, but most of the jobs will be filled by people in the Lancaster area. He says the Charlotte, North Carolina, area is appealing because of the large number of financial service professionals.

The company has five years to create the 650 jobs in order to qualify for tax advantages from the state.

Movement chose South Carolina over North Carolina, primarily because of incentives from the state, Crawford said. The company could be eligible for up to $53 million in state and local tax incentives.

Jobs at the company will include human resources, accounting, marketing and a large range of loan production roles.
