LAS VEGAS (AP) - The U.S. Justice Department says Clark County is agreeing to pay about $179,000 in back pay to settle a pay inequity and employment bias lawsuit on behalf of a black county diversity director.
An announcement issued Thursday says Clark County also agreed to abide by federal anti-discrimination laws and conduct training aimed at preventing compensation discrimination and retaliation.
The agreement involving Therese Scupi still needs approval by a U.S. District Court judge in Las Vegas.
It would settle a lawsuit filed in April alleging Scupi was paid less than other administrators at similar levels, and less than one assistant director.
Scupi was hired in 1999 as a human resources analyst and promoted to diversity director in 2002.
The complaint alleges her responsibilities were cut after she complained.
