LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) - Defense attorneys say a Longmont police detective fabricated a report related to a murder investigation but police say it was only a mistake.

Secundino Martinez is charged with two counts of murder in the January 2014 stabbing deaths of Brian Farmer and Jerrad Wallace outside a Longmont house party. He is scheduled for trial next month.

During testimony last year Detective Mark Cooper told defense attorneys he couldn’t remember what happened during a short time Martinez was out of an interview room and that he used a video to help him write a report. Cooper later conceded no video existed.

According to the Longmont Times-Call (https://tinyurl.com/k8y7f2h), Longmont police say the detective made a mistake trying to recall events that were part of a complicated investigation and did not fabricate anything.
