WOODVILLE, Ohio (AP) - A northern Ohio police officer who shot a dog while he was making a traffic stop won’t be charged.

The Sandusky County prosecutor announced this past week that the K9 officer from the village of Woodville would not face charges.

The shooting happened in November just outside Toledo.

The officer has said that he shot the dog because it targeted him in an unfriendly way and that the dog didn’t respond to calls to stop.

The Blade (https://bit.ly/1sGrZq2 ) newspaper in Toledo reports that the dog named Moses had surgery after the shooting and still has nerve damage.

The shooting angered some who called for the officer to undergo a psychological evaluation.
