MINOT, N.D. (AP) - A decorated World War II veteran will join a North Dakota senator at President Barack Obama’s State of the Union Address on Tuesday.

The Minot Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1xgdO7I ) that U.S. Sen. John Hoeven is bringing Minot resident Lynn Ass as his guest to the president’s annual nationwide address.

Hoeven says he’s honored to be joined by Aas, who fought as a rifleman during the Battle of the Bulge during the war.



Aas served with the 17th Airborne Division of the 193rd Infantry in the European Theatre. He received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart for his service.

Lynn’s son, Dan Aas, will also be a guest of U.S. Kevin Cramer as the address.
