As a host of other potential 2016 GOP presidential contenders prepared to descend on Iowa this weekend, 2012 nominee Mitt Romney and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush had their own private powwow Thursday in Utah.

The two men discussed policy and the GOP’s need to field a strong candidate in 2016 at the meeting in Salt Lake City, which had been organized by Mr. Bush and scheduled long before Mr. Romney signaled earlier this month that he was thinking about another run at the White House, according to a report in the New York Times.

The two could end up competing for similar donors within the establishment GOP as they get closer to making a definitive decision on whether or not to run.
