LOS ANGELES (AP) - A second teenager has been arrested in connection with the stabbing death of a student outside an East Los Angeles middle school.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says a 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder Tuesday night at his Los Angeles home. Investigators believe he provided the knife that killed 14-year-old Steven Cruz outside Griffith Middle School on Friday.
Cruz, who attended a nearby high school, had dropped by the middle school to visit friends after class when he was stabbed in the chest.
A 13-year-old boy, who’s believed to be a gang member, was charged Tuesday with the killing. He denied the charge during a juvenile court hearing Wednesday.
The names of the suspects haven’t been released because they’re minors.
