TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Tucson police say a 44-year-old man has been arrested as a result of a cold-case homicide investigation into the disappearances of a Phoenix couple more than a decade ago.

Police say Brian Ferry was arrested Wednesday and booked into jail on suspicion of two counts of first-degree murder.

According to Tucson police, 58 year-old Charles Russell and 42 year-old Catherine Nelson traveled to Tucson on Feb. 6, 2002 to buy a motorcycle but never returned home. Their truck was found abandoned in Tucson.

Foul play was suspected, but the case remained cold until new leads were developed in the past five years.

Sgt. Peter Dugan (DOO’-gan) says the couple’s remains have not been located.

He also says police are withholding some details of the case because the investigation continues.
