The Washington Redskins added Chad Grimm to their staff Thursday as defensive quality coach, the team announced.

Grimm is the son of former “Hog” and three-time Super Bowl champion Russ Grimm, who played 11 seasons with the team.

Chad Grimm is entering his seventh NFL season after spending the last two years as defensive quality control coach in San Diego, where he worked alongside new Redskins defensive coordinator Joe Barry. Grimm spent his first four NFL seasons with the Arizona Cardinals after entering the league in 2009 as an offensive quality control coach.

Grimm played collegiately as a linebacker and on special teams at Virginia Tech from 2003-06. The Fairfax, Va. native played both football and lacrosse at Oakton High School in Vienna, Va., helping the school reach the state finals in both sports for the first time in school history.
