BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - An organization that provides shelter for the homeless in Buffalo is dealing with overcrowding as a brutal cold snap freezes the region.
Officials at the Buffalo City Mission tell WGRZ-TV (https://on.wgrz.com/1tPPZYw ) that they normally house about 150 men a night. Since a “code blue” was declared on Monday, the shelter has been caring for more than 100 extra men.
During a code blue, the City Mission opens its doors to all who are in need of shelter from the weather and a hot meal.
To alleviate the overcrowding, the City Mission has set up cots in common areas throughout the building.
