UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Police say they have arrested a man on attempted murder charges for allegedly stabbing his former girlfriend multiple times in the neck and shoulder.
Alvin Smith, of Westbury, is accused of walking up to his ex-girlfriend as she walked in Uniondale on Wednesday and stabbing her with a large knife.
Police say it happened at 10:15 P.M. on Nassau Road.
The victim, who had an order of protection against Smith, was treated at a hospital.
Police say the knife was recovered.
Police charged Smith with second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal contempt and other charges. He was set to be arraigned Thursday.
It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.
