MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - Cobb County prosecutors say a Kennesaw city councilman accused of child molestation and exploitation has been indicted by a grand jury.

An indictment filed Thursday in Cobb County Superior Court charges Leonard Church with aggravated child molestation, child molestation and four counts of sexual exploitation of children.

The indictment accuses Church of molesting a boy under age 16 on May 9, 2014 and accuses him of possessing child pornography in 2006 and 2014. The indictment said the state recommended that he be held without bond.

According to the City of Kennesaw’s website, Church was elected as the city’s mayor in 1999 and served two terms. His term as a councilman is set to expire in 2017.

Messages left for Church’s attorneys were not returned Friday afternoon.
