MILWAUKEE (AP) - The Wauwatosa police detective who was shot and seriously injured while investigating a burglary has been released from the hospital.
Jeffrey Griffin had been at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee since June 19. A police department statement says he went home Tuesday.
A criminal complaint says Griffin and two other Wauwatosa police officers were investigating a burglary when they spotted a parked car in Milwaukee that had been reported stolen. It says the officers surrounded 20-year-old Najee Harmon and ordered him to surrender, but he drew a gun and fired, hitting the detective in the pelvic area. Harmon fled. Police found him more than 24 hours later, hiding in the basement of a Milwaukee home.
Harmon was charged last week with four felony counts, including three of attempted intentional homicide.
