ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A homeless man accused of shooting an Albuquerque police officer four times during a January traffic stop has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Prosecutors say 36-year-old Christopher Cook was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to shooting at or from a motor vehicle causing great bodily harm, possession of a deadly weapon and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.

Cook had previously pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and other charges.

Police say Officer Lou Golson was conducting a suspected drunken driving traffic stop on Jan. 3.

Footage from Golson’s lapel camera showed a man opening the vehicle’s door and firing several shots.

Golson suffered a broken femur and other injuries. The 31-year police veteran still is recovering from the shooting.
