CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Mike Green has been elected president of the state Board of Education.

Green was elected for 2015-16 at a meeting Thursday in Charleston. He replaces Gayle Manchin, whose nine-year term expired.

Green was appointed to the board in 2009 for a nine-year term. The Morgantown resident is a retired businessman with a technology background.



The board also elected former state Sen. Lloyd Jackson as vice president.
