WATERVILLE, Wash. (AP) - State fire officials said two new fires in Douglas County have grown and are threatening homes and standing wheat fields.
The Washington State Patrol said the Douglas County Complex Fire, which started on Friday evening, has grown to a total of about 9,600 acres. Officials said Level 1 evacuation orders are in place for the threatened residences, which means homeowners should be alert and aware of the fire.
The fire complex includes two separate fires: one is burning eight miles southeast of Waterville and the second 14 miles southeast of Mansfield.
State fire assistance has been mobilized to support local firefighters.
The cause of fire is still under investigation.
