HICKSVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island teenager has been arrested after police said he robbed a convenience store with a BB gun.
Nassau County police say 16-year-old Alfredo Uribe was arrested Saturday, shortly after the 5 a.m. robbery.
Authorities say the teenager walked into a 7-Eleven store in Hicksville and pointed what appeared to be a rifle at a cashier.
The clerk handed over cigarettes, cigars and undisclosed amount of cash before the suspect ran off.
Police say Uribe was arrested after a witness called police. Police later determined the weapon was a BB gun.
Uribe was arrested on second-degree robbery, criminal use of a firearm and stolen property charges.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Sunday. It was not immediately clear whether he had a lawyer who could comment on his behalf.
