COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Police have located a car believed to be the first of two vehicles that struck a woman crossing a Columbus street, killing her, and they’ve charged the owner.
Columbus police on Saturday arrested 37-year-old Antoine Vaughn and charged him with failure to stop after an accident. They believe his white 1999 Mercedes stuck 28-year-old Alysia Allison shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday, and that he was behind the wheel at the time.
Police say Allison was then struck by a second vehicle, possibly a light-colored minivan. They still are trying to identify and locate that driver, who also fled.
Allison was crossing Livingston Avenue near Beechwood Road when she was struck.
Authorities say medics pronounced her dead at the scene.
