ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (AP) - Work on a new fishing pier in Vermont is set to begin next month.
The Caledonian Record reports (https://bit.ly/1O5EBgA ) St. Johnsbury-based contractor Fairbanks Mill is scheduled to start work early next month on the pier in Fred Mold Park in St. Johnsbury.
Construction is expected to take about six weeks.
The pier will be located at the Moose and Passumpsic rivers.
Fairbanks Mill owner Bob Desrochers says the company wants to get it done before fishing season ends.
Green Mountain Power, the project’s sponsor, is having the pier built to meet re-licensing requirements. Power companies are required to install public facilities like piers and picnic areas because they profit from public, dam-powering waterways.
