RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - An Indian company is establishing its first Virginia manufacturing plant in Wise County.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe said Friday Dhiyo House Inc. will invest $6.1 million in southwest Virginia, creating 80 jobs. The company is a specialty supplier of belting for the conveyor and power transmission industries.

Dhiyo’s Virginia operations will be a 40,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in the Wise County Industrial Park. The company’s products are used by the mining industry and other businesses such as sawmills, sugar mills and foundries.

Owner Deepa Luthra said in a statement he chose Wise County because of the region’s coal industry and its proximity to other coal-producing states such as Kentucky and West Virginia.
