EASTPORT, Maine (AP) - A group of scuba diving enthusiasts is holding an event to celebrate women in diving on the border of Maine and Canada.

Women’s Dive Day is scheduled for Saturday in Eastport, Maine. Organizers say the event will celebrate diving off the shores of Eastport and Deer Island, New Brunswick.

Event coordinator Connie Bishop says the event is a chance to learn more about the sports of diving and underwater photography. Passamaquoddy Bay is on the border of Maine and New Brunswick and has a widespread reputation as a diving spot.

The event’s promoters include Professional Association of Diving Instructors and COJO Diving, Inc. of New Brunswick.
