WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut state police say a man tried to escape in a police vehicle after he was taken to a hospital the day after his arrest in a highway chase.
Trooper Karen O’Connor said police took 32-year-old Kenneth Lyden of Wolcott to a Waterbury hospital Saturday morning. She said when he was released just before noon, he drove away in a police vehicle preparing to take him back to jail. Police stopped him a short time later.
Lyden was arrested Friday after a chase on Interstate 84 in Newtown. Police said he tried to run over a trooper on Route 7 in Milford, then crashed in New Milford. He was arrested after a struggle with officers.
Lyden faces arraignment Monday on assault and reckless driving charges. More charges are expected. It’s not known if he has a lawyer.
