ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta police are searching for a suspect after a motorist struck and killed a pedestrian on the city’s southwest side.

Police say they found the man dead early Sunday morning on Cleveland Avenue. A police spokesman tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the suspect got out of his vehicle after the collision, went into some nearby woods and remained at large on Sunday morning.

WSB-TV reports that the man was seen by a witness limping as he left the vehicle and went into the woods. The station reports that the man who was struck and killed had a bicycle at the time.

Authorities didn’t immediately release the identity of the deceased man.
