WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) - A vigil is being held for a 12-year-old West Valley City girl who was found dead blocks from her home.
West Valley City spokesman Sam Johnson tells The Salt Lake Tribune (https://bit.ly/1Kejp6V) that a candlelight vigil is scheduled for 8 p.m. Sunday at City Park.
The body of Kailey Vijil was recovered Friday in an overgrown horse pasture.
Police say she was lured out of her home hours earlier around midnight by a 15-year-old boy who was also a neighbor.
The girl’s mother became worried when she didn’t come right home and told two officers around 1:30 a.m. that her daughter was missing.
Police say the teen will probably be charged with murder and there are no other suspects.
Authorities are not identifying the boy since he is a juvenile.
