WAILUKU, Hawaii (AP) - Police say a pedestrian has life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car driven by an 11-year-old boy in Kahului.

The Maui News reports (https://bit.ly/1KeOOsu ) that police say the 87-year-old Haiku woman was knocked to the ground Saturday afternoon by a white sedan the boy was backing up in the Nisei Veterans Memorial Center parking lot.

The 1999 Mitsubishi Galant kept moving and hit the left side of a Honda that was stopped behind it.

Police say the Haiku woman was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition. The Wailuku boy and the driver of the Honda did not report any injuries.

Police are still investigating the crash.
