PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The owners of the Pawtucket Red Sox will embark on a summer-long road trip to all 39 cities and towns in Rhode Island to promote their proposal for a new ballpark in downtown Providence.

The Pawtucket Times reports (https://bit.ly/1LXB02K ) the tour will kick off in mid-July.

PawSox spokeswoman Patti Doyle says the goal is to share the owners’ vision of the ballpark and also to answer questions. Doyle says Charles Steinberg, senior adviser to PawSox Chairman Larry Lucchino, will attend all the events.

Steinberg says engaging the community will make the ownership group more knowledgeable.

The owners of the Triple-A franchise of the Boston Red Sox are meeting with state lawmakers to create a new proposal after the team’s original plan asking for $120 million in state subsidies was rejected.
