PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) - Officials in Rhode Island are investigating after a man suspected in an assault died from what police believe to be a drug overdose.

WPRI-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1Ku2sYI ) that Yvon Duverne died Wednesday in Pawtucket.

Pawtucket Police say Duverne was a suspect in the beating of a 64-year-old man at a house on Central Avenue.

Police were called to the scene Wednesday morning and say that Duverne was standing in the driveway yelling at someone. They say he fled when he saw them.

After a search, they found him lying in a shed, where he told them he was dying and became unresponsive.

Police say they thought Duverne was overdosing and EMS officials used Narcan to combat his symptoms.

He was rushed to Memorial Hospital, where he died shortly after.
