NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Louisiana Supreme Court has disbarred Nanine McCool, a St. Tammany Parish lawyer who unsuccessfully ran for a judge’s seat last year.

NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports (https://bit.ly/1LXPm3a ) the judgment, which revokes her license to practice law in Louisiana, was issued Tuesday.

The case that led to McCool’s disbarment was, the justices acknowledge, “rather complex.” The court says the root of it is a bitter custody battle following a divorce in which McCool, who was friends with the wife in that case, took extreme steps on social media and the Internet to try to influence the case.

McCool, of Mandeville, could not be reached for comment Thursday.
