GRANDVILLE, Mich. (AP) - A high school hockey coach in the Grand Rapids area is riding his bike nearly 300 miles in an effort to help a former player’s family pay medical bills.
WOOD-TV (https://bit.ly/1C4JDse ) reports Grandville High School hockey coach Joel Breazeale left for Mackinaw City Wednesday morning and plans to arrive by July 4. Supporters had pledged about $11,100 as of early Friday on a GoFundMe page set up by Breazeale to support Myles Madden’s family.
Breazeale says the Maddens don’t like much attention drawn to them and would rather help others. Myles Madden’s father, Paul, is set to lose his job and health insurance as he undergoes chemotherapy for colon cancer. Myles’ mother, Jackie, needs expensive shots for nerve issues every three months.
Paul Madden says he couldn’t thank people enough for their support.
