GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - A 33-year-old Gautier man has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of aggravated identity theft.

U.S. Attorney Gregory K. Davis says Edgardo Batiz Medina was accused of selling birth certificates and Social Security cards.

The Mississippi Press reports (https://bit.ly/1IN0FOA) Medina will be sentenced Oct. 22. He faces a maximum penalty of two years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.
