SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Two years after a 16-year-old Springfield teen was reported missing, police have located her and let her go because she’s now an adult.

The Springfield News-Leader reports (https://sgfnow.co/1H5QZXZ ) Kylie Lawrence was reported as a missing runaway on July 28, 2013, when she was 16. Police found Lawrence on Tuesday after someone reported seeing her at Battlefield Mall in Springfield, where officers found her.

Police spokeswoman Lisa Cox says officers confirmed Lawrence was safe, let her know she was still considered missing and then allowed her to leave.

Lawrence was listed as an active missing person in Greene County by the Missouri State Highway Patrol on Tuesday but has since been removed from the list. She had also been listed on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s website.
