GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - A Greensboro woman has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the stabbing death of her boyfriend nearly two years ago.

The News & Record of Greensboro reported (https://bit.ly/1ItHhnN) that 43-year-old Mulana Amil Parks pleaded guilty Wednesday and was sentenced to nearly seven years in prison.

Investigators say Kenneth Lee Galloway was stabbed to death in October 2013.



Parks originally was charged with first-degree murder.

Superior Court Judge V. Bradford Long also ordered Parks to play Galloway’s family $3,100 for cremation costs.

Parks apologized in court, saying she made a bad decision. But she also said she was defending herself from her boyfriend.

Parks was arrested In Georgia a week after Galloway was killed.
