ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - The U.S. Army’s Criminal Investigation Command is offering a $10,000 reward in an arson case in which $1.6 million in National Guard vehicles were destroyed earlier this year.
The Army announced the offer on Thursday, nearly six months after two armored vehicles were destroyed Feb. 3 at the Asheville National Guard Armory. The vehicles were parked outside the armory in a fenced area. No one was hurt.
Officials say investigators have determined that the fires were intentional.
Asheville Fire Department Battalion Chief Larry Morrow said the armored multipurpose vehicles are used for transporting troops.
