JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Two candidates are running in Tuesday’s Republican primary for Mississippi treasurer:

Lynn Fitch, 53, of Madison.
Occupation: First-term state treasurer. Fitch is an attorney who has worked for the attorney general’s office and state House of Representatives. She is also is a former director of the state Personnel Board.
Previous political experience: Elected treasurer in 2011 to succeed Republican Tate Reeves.

David McRae, 34, of Ridgeland.
Occupation: Attorney.
Previous political experience: McRae is making his first run for public office. He worked production jobs in the TV and film industry in California before returning to his home state to start law school at Mississippi College in 2007. He worked in the Unclaimed Property division of the treasurer’s office, under Fitch.
