PHOENIX (AP) - Estimated travel times are being displayed longer and on additional days on overhead message signs along Phoenix-area freeways.
The Arizona Department of Transportation has extended the days and hours that the signs are in operation to include weekday evening hours and weekend days between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.
The signs previously displayed travel times only during weekday morning and afternoon commutes.
The displays provide drivers with estimated times to reach various locations such as major cross streets and destinations such as the I-10 Deck Park Tunnel near downtown Phoenix.
ADOT says the displays are intended to provide drivers with information about conditions ahead of them so drivers can consider taking alternate routes.
