FINCASTLE, Va. (AP) - A judge says the owners of a closed truck stop cannot seek lost profits from its state takeover.

The Virginia Department of Transportation last year shut down the former Travel Centers of America truck stop on Interstate 81 in Botetourt County where a highway improvement project is planned.

VDOT has offered to pay more than $6 million for the 12-acre parcel. The company had sought more, including money it will lose from the truck stop’s closing.

But The Roanoke Times (https://bit.ly/1ORglz6) reports that Botetourt County Circuit Judge Malfourd Trumbo ruled Thursday that TCA is not entitled to seek lost profits.
