MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Two national Republican groups have put Vermont on a list of 10 states nationwide where they’ll focus their efforts to pick up legislative seats.
The Republican State Leadership Committee and the Republican Legislative Campaign Committee met in Boston and announced that the first of the two groups will put $40 million toward legislative races around the country.
After last year’s election, Republicans already control 69 of 99 legislative chambers around the country, and say they’re aiming for more.
In Vermont, Democrats have had solid control of both the House and Senate in recent years, currently holding 85 of 150 seats in the House and 21 of 30 in the Senate.
