DOVER, Del. (AP) - Dover Police have arrested a woman they say whipped her 6-year-old daughter with an extension cord.

Officers say another relative of the child reported to child welfare officials on Monday that girl had been injured by mother. Police say the mother told them she whipped her daughter for not listening to her.

Twenty-eight-year-old Nivia Brown of Dover was charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
