DOVER, Del. (AP) - Fish and wildlife officials say Delaware’s commercial horseshoe crab fishery is set to close as its quote nears.

The commercial fishery will close at 12:01 a.m. Thursday. After that, officials say, it will be unlawful to harvest horseshoe crabs this year.

Under the management plan of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission’s Interstate Fishery, Delaware’s 2015 quota allocation was 154,527 male horseshoe crabs.

Harvesting female horseshoe crabs is banned year-round in Delaware.
