GUILFORD, Maine (AP) - Authorities have scaled back their search in North Guilford for a man suspected of killing his ex-girlfriend.
State police say they scaled back their search at dusk Monday. Troopers and sheriff’s deputies will remain in the area overnight.
A renewed search of woods and ponds did not yield any sign of Robert Burton or the canoe or kayak he was last seen in earlier Monday.
The 38-year-old Burton is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, 37-year-old Stephanie Gebo. Her body was found at her Parkman house on June 5.
Authorities say Burton has been on the run ever since. They believe he’s been breaking into camps and houses in the area. This is only the second time there’s been a confirmed sighting of him.
