DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - The Iowa Appeal Board has approved paying $700,000 to movie backers who’d contacted for $1.4 million in tax credits that were never paid.

Deputy Attorney General Jeff Thompson told The Des Moines Register reports (https://dmreg.co/1HJRf5K ) that Monday’s settlement resolves any ongoing disputes around the suspended tax credit program. But he also says it’s possible that some additional projects connected to other legal issues still could seek state payment.

State officials shut down the film credit program in 2010 amid reports of mismanagement and fraud had led to millions of dollars of credits being improperly awarded.
