JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) - A Kingsport prosthetics businessman has been accused in connection with throwing a pipe bomb into a rival Johnson City business while it was closed for the night.

Multiple media outlets report that Christopher W. Alexander was arrested on Sunday night, just minutes after authorities say Alexander bombed a Johnson City prosthetics and orthotics medical office. No one was hurt in the explosion.

Authorities say they found an assembled pipe bomb in Alexander’s vehicle and have charged him with a single count of knowingly possessing a pipe bomb.

Michael Knight, an agent with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, says the ATF has assumed primary responsibility for the case.

Alexander works at Alexander Prosthetics & Orthotics, Inc. in Kingsport. It was not immediately clear if he has hired an attorney.
