WESLACO, Texas (AP) - A South Texas city has issued a boil water notice because of issues with a treatment system.
City officials in Weslaco on Wednesday announced all water meant for public consumption must be boiled.
A statement from the city of about 37,000 says operational problems Tuesday night led to a treatment plant not able to deliver water.
Authorities say water system pressure was restored Wednesday in Weslaco but the boil water order remains for an unspecified time.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required Weslaco to notify customers of the need to boil water meant for drinking, cooking or making ice.
Officials suggest using bottled water until the city lifts the boil-water order.
