FRISCO, Texas (AP) - A principal at a North Texas elementary school has been arrested at a mall and accused of trying to solicit children online for sex.

The Frisco police sting led to 46-year-old Oscar Figueroa, who was being held Wednesday on a charge of online solicitation of a minor.

Figueroa is principal of Viridian Elementary School in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District. Figueroa was put on paid administrative leave following Tuesday afternoon’s arrest at Stonebriar Centre Mall in Frisco.

Police say Figueroa was chatting online with detectives - not children. Officer Colby Hill says police are trying to determine whether Figueroa had any improper contact with children.

Frisco City Jail records Wednesday did not list bond for Figueroa or an attorney to speak on his behalf.
