HATBORO, Pa. (AP) - Authorities in suburban Philadelphia say a fleeing bank robbery suspect was shot by a witness and later taken into custody.
Officials said a man entered the TD Bank in Hatboro in Montgomery County shortly before 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, demanded money and fled with an undisclosed amount. Police said a dye pack exploded as he left, and a witness carrying a licensed firearm pursued him for about a quarter-mile to a business center parking lot.
Assistant District Attorney Kevin Steele said the witness told him repeatedly to get on the ground, and finally fired. Police took the suspect for treatment of what an official said appeared to be a wound to his arm.
Steele said the suspect had said he was armed in the bank, but no weapon was found.
