PETOSKEY, Mich. (AP) - A historical marker will be dedicated at St. Francis Solanus Indian Mission Church in Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula.

The Petoskey News-Review reports (https://bit.ly/1HOk3by ) a Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday followed by the dedication at the Petoskey church at 11:15 a.m.

About a decade ago, Petoskey’s St. Francis Xavier Church - which oversees the Solanus property - formed a committee to spearhead restoration of the small 19th century mission church.

A rededication in 2008 capped off the restoration work. Some money from fundraising for the project was saved for a marker to detail the mission’s history.

The Michigan Historical Commission approved the design and wording on the marker.
